Blade is one of the oldest tools that early people used in ancient time, and it has been playing an important role in daily living since then. But when you cut food and you use blade on human's body, for instance, shaving or hair-cutting, rust on the blade is annoying and you can't savor delicious cuisine. This is why stainless steel blade was created meeting users' need, but at first stainless steel blades had bad reputation for being blunt. It is because the early stainless steel was not suitable for cutting blade.

Our V Gold1 is ideal cutting steel and its material provides the base of our stainless cutting steel series.

From raw material with fewer impurities, the ingot is made by latest refining technology. It has fine and ductile structure and is easy to forge by fire. Heat treatment is also easy to apply to and the product is corrosive resistant.

Blades made of VG1 meet these four major requirements for a good blade;

    1.hard

    2.ductile

    3.abrasion-resistant

    4.corrosive-resistant

VG1 contains 1.0% of C and hard primary carbide and secondary carbide co-exist in the substrate, which enhances its abrasion resistance. 14% of Cr also contributes to improvement in corrosive-resistance and strength. Mo together with Cr forms hard double carbide helping improve in abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance./p>

VG-1 is not the same steel as VG-10. Knife retailer Cold Steel markets a variety of knives that use VG-1. Cold Steel claims that VG-1 has better sharpness, edge retention, point strength, shock, and strength characteristics than 440C, VG-10, and ATS 34 stainless steels. On the other hand, there have been reports that VG-1 might be more chip prone than other comparable stainless steels, but these reports have been disputed.

Japan VG10

When users chose cutting steels which are suitable for various kinds of knives, their demands for performance of cutting steels becomes diverse, but the indispensable prerequisites of good steel have never changed. V Gold 10, a high quality cutting stainless steel, is made from highly-selected pure iron material and is worked by best technology, thus VG10 has ductility and shows workability and forge ability. Besides VG10 is free from corrosion caused by impure substances and achieved good abrasion resistance. So V Steel Series boast these excellent features.

V Gold10 is composed by raw materials and some elements that form alloys.

Addition of 15% of Cr, 1% of Mo and 1,5% of Co makes the matrix (substrate) stronger and prevents carbides from dropping out. By adding V, the structure becomes finer. Added Cr, Mo, and V form a lot of hard carbides, so abrasion resistance improves which gives knives long-term clean cutting, VG10 is rather machine-able and easy to grind. VG10 also has quadratic effect in high-temperature tempering that it is ideal use in cutting tools which are given surface-coating at up to about 450°c.
